History of Strathcona
The Strathcona community was incorporated as a town in 1899 and as a city in 1907. Eventually, Strathcona amalgamated with Edmonton in 1912. Strathcona was named after Lord Strathcona, Hudson's Bay Company Governor (1889–1914), who was involved in the development of the CPR transcontinental railway. Strathcona is bounded on the south by Whyte Avenue, on the north by Saskatchewan Drive, on the west by 107 Street, and the east by Mill Creek Ravine.
