Heritage Valley History

Most of the Heritage Valley neighbourhoods are named after prominent Edmontonians who played key roles in the development of Edmonton City. The area was established in 2001 through the adoption of the Heritage Valley Servicing Concept Design Brief, which was used to guide the development of Heritage Valley.

The original design concept consisted of 15 neighbourhoods, but today Heritage Valley is made up of the following neighbourhoods:

Heritage Valley Recreational & Outdoor Activities

Heritage Valley offers lots of fun and entertainment to residents as it features plenty of park space, nature trails, green spaces, sports and fitness facilities.

The area was designed to take advantage of the nearby Blackmud Creek Ravine, which borders to the east. The ravine features hiking trails by the water, lots of green space and wildlife. Interesting spots worth checking out include Gateway Fitness Park, Tony Cashman Park, and Cavanagh walking trails.

The neighbourhoods are also designed to take advantage of the natural area. You'll find walkways and trails connecting the different parts of the community to stormwater ponds, parks and the ravine.

Jagare Ridge Golf Club is a popular location among golf enthusiasts. It offers well-manicured greens and fairways, a great assortment of holes, beautiful scenery, elevation changes and great food at the clubhouse.

For more entertainment, residents can check out Currents of Windermere or South Edmonton Common, both of which are situated only a few minutes away and feature cinemas, retail stores, restaurants and much more.

Heritage Valley is growing fast, and soon, residents won't have to drive to get to amenities. New commercial centres such as Heritage Valley Town Centre are on the rise, and there are plans to extend the LRT south.
