The construction plan for Haddow was approved by the city council in 1993 and construction in the area began after 1995. Haddow is named after Albert Walker "Bert" Haddow, an engineer who worked for the city of Edmonton for over 40 years. Haddow moved to Edmonton from Ontario in 1910 to work for the city's engineering department, and by 1919, he had been promoted to head city engineer. Haddow is bounded on the south and east by Terwillegar Drive, southwest by Anthony Henday Drive, and north by Henderson estates and Falconer Heights neighbourhoods.
