History of Glenora
The land that is now Glenora was originally owned by Malcolm Groat, who acquired the land in 1878. Groat then sold most of his property to a real estate developer in 1903, and the property changed hands again and was acquired by James Carruthers in 1906. Carruthers named the area on the west side of Groat Ravine 'Glenora' and then sold Glenora properties on the condition that only detached or semi-detached be erected on Glenora. The neighborhood is bounded by 107 Avenue on the North, on the east by Groat Road, on the west by 142 Street, and on the south by the North Saskatchewan River Valley and the MacKinnon Ravine.
