Bearspaw History
The construction of residences in Bearspaw began during the 1970s. About 14% of the residences were built during that period. The majority (83%) were constructed during the 1980s and a few homes were completed during the 1990s. Bearspaw sits on land annexed to Edmonton City in 1974. The neighbourhood is named after Chief Mangwa Ahisd (Bear's Paw) of the Stoney Band. Bearspaw is bordered by Gateway Blvd to the east, east by Blackmud Creek, south by Anthony Henday Drive and north by Keheewin.
