Allard History

Allard is named after a prominent Edmontonian, Doctor Charles Alexander Allard, a surgeon, broadcaster, entrepreneur, innovator, industrialist, philanthropist, and visionary. The Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan (NASP) for Allard was formulated in 2007, and construction began in 2009. 

About 50% of Allard homes are single-family homes and duplexes, 35% are row houses and low-rise apartments/condos, and the remaining 15% are medium and high-rise units.

Allard is bounded on the north by 30 Avenue, west by James Mowatt Trail, south by 41 Avenue and east by Blackmud Creek Ravine.

Allard Outdoor & Recreational Activities

Allard was marketed as a community designed to bring its residents closer to nature. The neighbourhood lives up to its promise by offering two lakes and access to the Blackmud Creek Ravine, which borders Allard to the west.

Walking, biking and hiking trails are abundant throughout the neighbourhood. The trails start at Heritage Valley Station condominium complex, then pass through Allard playground and the lake located at the centre, before branching off to the ravine and upwards towards the second lake. The trails at the second lake also join the ravine where you can find Cavanagh walking trails, a popular hiking spot. This point also features spectacular views of the highway.

Those who are up for a hiking challenge can follow the ravine upwards into Callaghan and beyond.
